“Children are not the people of tomorrow, but people today. They are entitled to be taken seriously. They have a right to be treated by adults with tenderness and respect, as equals.” – Janusz Korczak.
It would be interesting for you to know that Janusz Korchzak was a Polish-Jewish author and Pediatrician who worked many years in an orphanage. When he was offered freedom, he refused and stayed with the children he cared for when the Nazis sent them to extermination camps.
He stayed with the children till the end of their lives and perished with them. Many years later, he became one of the inspiration behind the works of the ‘United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child’. So, in a way, he is like a ‘father’ to many children out there.
